Encouraged by the success of the Monique Mémet doctoral meetings since their inauguration in 2011, the organising committee has decided to repeat this initiative at the 46th GERAS (Groupe d'Etude et de Recherche en Anglais de Spécialité) conference, which will take place from 20 to 22 March 2025 at Université Lumière Lyon 2.

The meetings will take place on 20 March 2025.

These doctoral meetings are part of GERAS's aims to promote research, exchanges and meetings in the field of specialised English. They provide an ideal opportunity for reflection and exchange, where doctoral students present the progress of their work to a sympathetic audience, generally in the presence of their supervisor, in the form of a structured twenty-minute talk, followed by answers to questions. The discussion may deal more specifically with certain aspects of the research in progress: practical or methodological questions, links with a scientific paper or publication, preparation for the viva, etc. A round-table discussion led by a GERAS teacher-researcher then looks at the thesis process and the prospects for scientific and professional development.

Participants are invited to submit questions and select the topics they would like to see addressed at this event. The 2025 call for papers can be consulted on this site (see the tab of the same name in the left-hand column) and you can make your submissions on the "New submissions" page.

Monique Mémet

The GERAS doctoral conference has been renamed the "Rencontres doctorales Monique Mémet" in 2021 in honour of the teacher-researcher Monique Mémet, who died in 2021. A specialist in specialised English, she made a major contribution to the Groupe d'étude et de recherche en anglais de spécialité (GERAS) from the 1990s until her death in 2021.
